Option Sculpture
Through study and analysis of human figure and space, you will start to explore the world of sculpture. Life drawing and anatomy assignments will help you to become familiar with the aspects of portrait and (full) figure sculpture. During studio practice you get introduced in the methods of traditional sculpting, drawing and moulding techniques as well as the use of different materials, especially stone and metals.
To develop a thorough co-ordination of hand, eye and body actions is crucial to discover the true creative potential of sculpture. More than creating a mimetic representation of reality you’ll be challenged to articulate a highly personal artistic strategy. One of the main studio subjects is composition. The aim of composition is to help you to detach from the formal limitations of figure study. This will allow you to develop and sharpen your artistic scope, be it in a more figurative realm or an opposite direction. During the master program you’re equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to address an autonomous artistic proposal and translate it into a cohesive (sculptural) body of work.

Option Painting
The painting course balances between on the one hand ‘language proficiency’ and on the other personal artistic experience and development. Taking account of the very great and rich tradition within painting, the student is invited to develop his or her personal pictorial language. The studio work in the first and second year Bachelor is based chie?y on working from observation: still life, ?gure, portrait and landscape. This study allows for various points of reference with old and recent masters. It also forms the necessary reference-bank where from (or against) the student can discover and develop his or her plastic language. Complimentary to this there is also more and more concern for the sociocultural context wherein an art work functions. The ‘image-bombardment’ that we, as it were, daily undergo needs to be filtered, absorbed and reworked to relevant images for use within the painting praxis. At the end of the Master the student is expected to present a project wherein his/her personal vision is apparent and convincing. The painting studios, located on the top floor and bathed in a sea of north light, form the key location from where these processes are developed.

Option In Situ3
In Situ³ is an open study programme, which emphasises two principles; the speci?c situation and the individual approach. The students investigate various sites, their historic, social and aesthetic context and experiment with diverse materials and techniques.
The core of the programme connects the understanding of an environment, its relation with the artwork and the artist\'s position. We underline the play and dialogue between these elements and parameters, encourage adventurous research and even support failure. With trial and error students develop insights and skills. They share their passion, worries and fear as much as their inspiration and joy, which leads to unpredictable, personal and moving experiments and results.
Next to the individual studio practice the semesters are structured by assignments, which focus on site specificity addressing a range from the urban to the natural landscape and the architectural context on either a fictive or a real level, encourage formal and material research and the exploration of perception, which addresses the individual and its body.
Each academic year starts with a workshop abroad - outside of the conventional academic realm, which is followed up during the year with visits of exhibitions and other cultural events.
In short, In Situ³ is the multi-disciplinary Bachelor/Master course that supports you in developing your vision. We guide our students, who come from all over the world, to access multiple opportunities in divers areas of the artistic, cultural, and social domain.

Option Printmaking
In order to create graphic art, it is necessary to master a strong technical background. In the Printmaking department you will acquire all skills of the printmaking techniques, such as intaglio, block printing, lithography and silkscreen. By combining these techniques with creativity, you will be able to express your ideas in a more exciting and innovative way.
Contemporary artists are using printmaking more frequently, sometimes in combination with other media. Our students are using international contacts and exchange programmes to build a network, which will be useful to them. Besides a career as an independent artist, graduates can ?nd work as an art teacher (with a supplementary course), as an illustrator, as a graphic designer or in a job, which is creative by nature.
