Epidemiologists find their employment mainly in the world of health policy, in medical scientific research or in education.
The field of action of epidemiologists is greatly expanded within the last decades: whereas the epidemiologist mainly used to focus on research questions from preventive medicine and public health, nowadays it is increasingly called upon the methodological expertise of the epidemiologists in clinical scientific research, applied genetic research…

Part of the graduated epidemiologists will obtain a PhD position at an academic institutein Belgium or elsewhere in the world.
Others will join organizations or institutes in the field of public health.
A third group will find a position within the pharmaceutical industry (e.g.: Clinical Research Associate (CRA)). The program offers a good basis for a career as an applied clinical investigator whether or not in combination with a position as a medical specialist.
Finally, some graduated epidemiologists will end up in educational institutes (universities and graduate schools).
